Black and Red Ball

I attended a  Black and Red Ball hosted by a Steppers  Group.

I had been planning this dress for over a month.  I knew it was going to be red but I also wanted to add black as well. I have a couple of all red dresses and was making this one a little different. I went to my red stash of yarn and chose the  yarns I wanted to use.  I knew that the bottom of the dress was going to use the discontinued Jaegar Fur yarn.  I had ten balls of the yarn and was waiting for a good occasion to use the yarn.  This was the perfect time.  The majority of the yarns I used were 2 ply and 3 ply yarns.  I wanted to stay away from bulky yarn.  Some of the yarns had only a small amount and I used it until it ran out.

I was going to use all 10 balls of Jaegar, but  I realized 10 would be to many and used 6 balls of yarn.  When I finished I thought it was too much fur but I liked it and I left it

I received plenty of compliments for the dress.  They loved the fur at the bottom and was touching it.  Good thing it was not on top. I am so glad that I stayed with the fur on the dress.

These are some other attendees from the evening in their red and black.  The dress worked out perfectly for the event.

Baby Boat Blanket

A friend asked me to make a blanket for her.  She wanted a gift for a childhood friend that was having her first baby.

I chose a design from Crazy Cross Stitch Magazine.

Crochet Spotting

I went into a clothing store called Strawberry's (New York City) looking for a dress. While I was in the store I came across some crocheted items.  This summer seems to be showcasing more lacy crochet items.  Here are a few things that I saw in the store.

This top also came in a gray and white color.

March is National Crochet Month

National Crochet Month

I have been busy during this month crocheting and donating blankets to charity.    I crocheted headbands, scarves and a hat for two different people.

I also created blankets for Warm Up America.  They were collecting for babies for Parkland Hospital  and for  children for Morehead's build a bed program.  I donated two blankets. One blanket was already done and the other one I did in Cowboy Colors.

Recap of 2014 clothes.

During the year of 2014, I went to several events such as dancing, birthdays parties and celebrations.

Here are some of the outfits that I wore during that year.

I went to a birthday party and the colors were Sunset.

In Washington, D.C. the Steppers them was Autumn colors:  I incorporated granny squares and  tapestry crochet in the design.

In Connecticut I wore this dress to a Linen Steppers Party.  I thought Linen was 1980's and I was not going to wear in.  So I wore cotton. The bottom of the dress is made with Rowan's denim cotton and the top is cotton.  The back was a halter style design.

The End of the Summer White Party was in Brooklyn, New York.  The theme was all white, so I incorporated the ruffle lace yarn in the dress but left in straight instead of using it as a ruffle.  The dress used various shades of white cotton.

I went bowling with some co-workers during the Halloween Weekend.  I created this vest from Biscotti and Yarn co.  The back is done in black.

I wore  this Christmas Vest the Saturday before Christmas to a Steppers Set in Brooklyn, New York with friends.

Barbie Convention

Every year I go to the Barbie Convention and bring several crocheted items to wear during the four day conference.  Some are old, new and remixed.   This was last year's  2014 conference in Nashville Tennessee.  The dress is completed crocheted in Red Heart Yarn.
