This is my first blanket that I can remember creating. This was my I am bored and I need to crochet blanket. It started when I was 8 years old and it continued until I reached 24 years old.
I truly believed that at some point it would straighten out to a round circle. This blanket saw me crochet from St. Josephs Montessori School- elementary school until Texas Southern University Law School.
It has finally become in style. It is now my cocoon blanket. It will keep my body warm while watching tv or crocheting.

Pieces of a Black and White forms dress
My Black and White dress needed to be completed in a week. I was going to an event and the theme was black and white. However, plans were changed and I still wore the dress to an a Steppers event with no color scheme.
I have several black and white crochet pieces in the house. I had been trying to create cowls with different yarns. One was going to be a ruffle cowl and the other was striped with black and white. I also created an open lace pattern with ruffle yarn. (You can see the individual pieces below.) I connected the pieces and added additional rows of black and white yarn. Some yarn had metallic in it and others had sequins.
The pieces that were already created were from bottom to top: The black metallic shell stitch to the ruffle was going to be a cowl. I decided to use it. I crocheted on top on it until I reached the end of the black and white shells. Then, I connected the white piece with the black and white stripes.
You can see the individual pieces below.

Dresses for the Evening in February
February was the month for me to prepare for the Stepping in Atlanta. They were having two nights of evening dancing. The first night was an Red and Black Affair and the second night was Formal Wear.
I was preparing for my dress prior to Vogue Knitting Live in New York. I knew the marketplace would have the colors that I wanted. I was surprised that Trendsetter had this yarn in the box called Transitions. It was amazing. It gradually went from red to black. (The front of the dress is made in this yarn. I started in a circle for many rows and then work on sides of the circle. This was the perfect yarn for the dress. The other yarns for the back was Tess Designer Ribbon Yarn in Black, Koiku in a red glitter and Brazen Stitchery Duet Sock Shorty Stripe Red/ Black Variegated Yarn. These four yarns created my dress.
For the second night, I wore an oldie but goodie dress. I had not worn the dress in five years and it would still look good to wear. I used various black and white yarns to create this dress.

February 2017
In 2017,
I have many plans this year for my crochet and I am going to at least get them started and finished before the end of the year.
1. I am going to complete my crochet book that will feature some of my designs..
2. I am going to teach a class on my "No side barred crochet"
3. I am going to particpate in the red hat drive for babies.
4. I am going to complete outfits throughout the year for my stepping events.
5. I am going to have fun doing it.
I kept the list short so that I could achieve my 2017 goals.

November Crocheting
November is my birthday month and I was celebrating a special birthday.
For my actual birthday I decided to wear a green dress. I had been collecting this green yarn for the past few years to create a sweater. I had never made the sweater so I decided that I would use the green yarn for the dress. It would be special since I had never made a green dress before.
The birthday partywas the following weekend in December and I needed a second dress for the party. The colors were red, blue and gold. I chose red to wear. I went into my red yarn stash and found that I had silk type yarn and a merino wool yarn that worked perfectly with the additional red glitterspun (Lion Brand) and (yes, I still had some) and added a ruffle yarn at the bottom.
I created two blankets that I gave away as raffle prizes.
The first Blanket was made with Lion Brand Homespun yarn in various colors. Most of the squares had been done in the past and I just connected them to make this blanket because I love this yarn so much.
The second blanket was made using Tapestry Crochet. I took a scene from a cross stitch book because I love tapestry crochet.
The birthday party was Saturday and on Sunday I had a baby shower to attend.
I created this blanket with a teddy bear head using granny squares as the base. This was the first time, that I created this type of blanket.

October Crochet
October has been a busy month for me to crochet.
I completed a project for a dress to be worn at Dancing Event in Washington , D.C. in October.. I created the skirt part of the dress by crocheting various blue yarns in stripe form to create different shades around the skirt. The front is Issaye Misake yarn which is a blue yarn with speckles of gold flowing through it.
My Annual Guild Luncheon- Theme: Crochet Flowers
I created a dress to be worn to the lunch in purple. I had loads of purple left over from previous projects this summer and I thought I would used it up. In addition, I created a blanket for the luncheon to give away as a prize for the trivia game that related to the theme.
Fashion Show at the Luncheon.
Since the theme was crochet Flowers, I went in the stash and pulled out a dress that won 3rd place in the Crochet Guild of America Contest to wear.
The second dress that I wore to the fashion show was Golden Galaxy. I won third place for this dress in the 2016 design contest.
