Barbie Convention

Every year I go to the Barbie Convention and bring several crocheted items to wear during the four day conference.  Some are old, new and remixed.   This was last year's  2014 conference in Nashville Tennessee.  The dress is completed crocheted in Red Heart Yarn.

New Year 2015

Who am I?  This year, I will share with you the items that I  have made over the years.  Some have been great and others have been a miss.  I love my blankets and have made many over the years.

When I was around 8 years old, I received this Potholder kit with this heavy pink yarn . There were quite a few of my friends who received the same kit.
We watched the older kids learn to crochet and we want to do the same.  It made it kind of easy for us because we went to Montessori School, which allowed us plenty of free time to be creative (your choice).
I was determined to make a circle blanket.  The first part of the potholder came out round but the subsequent rows refused to cooperate.  My friends took their circles out because it was turning.  I refused and just knew it would work itself out.  Well, it did not.  This blanket became my comfort zone when I wanted to crochet and needed something to do as I was growing up.  I continued to work on it until college.
I would just pull the blanket out and start working on the rows.    I learned the chain stitches between stitches from my grandmother because that was the only stitches she could do.

Here is the blanket now and I have not worked on it for a very long time.
