Water Tower Cozy- remembering

I participated in creating the Water Tower Cozy.  My crochet piece measured 8 ft by 14 ft made with Lion Brand Thick and Quick Yarn. The yarn color was goldenrod.  After completing the cozy and watching the installation, I was excited that I created a piece of Art that would be showcased for an awards show.
After  the cozy was taken down, I assisted with turning the piece into mini blankets to be donated to charity. Never wear black;  I had the yarn all over me.
Those are my hands.  Here is a video relating to the blankets.

This is the news article relating to the cozy.
"Manhattan, NY (OPENPRESS) December 12, 2008 -- On December 13th Robyn Love the world renowned fiber artist, is going to cover a 10,000 gallon water tank on the roof of a building in Manhattan with a hand crocheted cozy made entirely of Lion Brand yarn. The completed project will stand 16 feet tall, have a 41 foot circumference and will have the shape and color of a giant pencil tip.The giant crocheted cozy took seven people 3 weeks, using just over 32 miles of Lion Brand's Wool-Ease(R) Thick & Quick yarn to complete the mammoth project. Ms. Love is known for her giant yarn projects. Earlier in 2008 she installed a hand crocheted, mile long, yellow line down the center of a road in Dallas Texas, which was also made with Lion Brand Yarn. The massive amount of yarn used for the water tower cozy was supplied by the Lion Brand Yarn company. Ms Love was assisted on this project by the crochet skills of Rosemarie Krist, Willena Nanton, Jill Schreier, Sam Shubitz, Leslie S. and Barbara Van Elsen. The project was commissioned to promote 'The Pencil Award', given out by a London-based charity D&AD (www.dandad.org)
"We are thrilled that Robyn has once again turned to Lion Brand Yarn for one of her major textile projects." said David Blumenthal CEO of Lion Brand Yarn. "It's even more gratifying to us that this project will bring attention to an educational charity like D&AD."  The giant cozy will be installed on a water tower on the roof of the building at 395 Broadway (at Walker St.) in Manhattan on Saturday December 13th and should be visible from the street at that location"

Blue box scarf

I created this scarf as a gift using Caron- Simply soft yarn  and other small amounts of blue yarns.

The scarf pattern is made using tapestry crochet for the bottom of the scarf and single crochet and various stitch patterns for the main body of the scarf.

Dresses from the Barbie Convention 2012

The Barbie Convention was in Orange County California near Disneyland.  Each year I look forward to participating in events, meeting  friends and having  a good time.  One of my favorite activities is to participate in the fashion show.  This year I was the barbie doll Charmaine Jones.  I crocheted the dress  and the embellishments.  The bottom of the dress could have used more netting underneath and it should have  been wider.

I used Lion Brand's Microspun mocha yarn with Vanna's Glamour diamond and topaz.  I was trying to find a more brownish metallic but I could not find it.  So I had to overlay the brown netting over the dress to tone down the Vanna's glamour topaz yarn.

Charmaine Jones is a barbie doll that combines Steam punk  and fashion.  The dress on the fashion doll on the Barbie collector website is  a lighter in color  than the actual doll.
